How do I get started?

Getting started is easy. The first step is to set up your private dance lesson with one of our qualified Brookvale Dance Instructors. During your first private dance lesson, your instructor will determine what dances would be best for you and recommend an appropriate course for you to continue with. Do I need a partner?

No partner is necessary. Our studio is about 50/50 couples and singles. During your private dance lessons in Brookvale, your teacher will be your partner. You can learn to dance effectively during private, one on one lessons with your instructor.

Can I really learn to dance from private dance lessons and how long will it take?

Yes. If you can walk into our studio you will be Dancing Tonight once you are taught how by one of our expert teachers. We teach simple, basic elements, which placed together make up the steps. There is no age limit, our youngest 3 and oldest 80+. You will be up dancing within your first 10 minutes of you dance lesson!

How much do private dance lessons in Brookvale cost?

Tuition varies, depending on a number of factors e.g., how good you want to be, what dances you want to learn, and your dance schedule.. After Your initial lesson and consultation, your instructor will recommend or personally design a program to continue with and will be able to answer any questions, so you will have the knowledge to make an informed decision.

Does the fee have to be paid in advance?

Tuition is generally paid in advance, especially for Starting Programs. However, other arrangements are also available. Since these are determined on a case by case basis, when you come in for you first lesson we will be glad to give you all the details.

Will I have a good teacher?

Most definitely. All our dance teachers are world champions. Your teacher will be selected to best suit your particular needs and style of learning.

Do I Need Dance Shoes?

Absolutely not! Most students who start don’t have dance shoes. As long as the shoes that you wear are comfortable and wont stick to the floor they should be fine. However if you’d like to get a pair of dance shoes we can help you. Dance shoes for ballroom dancing are made with suede soles for the correct grip & slip on the floor. Many salsa dances wear them out in clubs even cause they are more flexible & better for your dancing. The right tools just make it easier, so if you choose to get shoes, we’ll point you in the right direction.

Lessons close together or further apart?

Although we teach at your pace, there are certainly benefits to keeping your dance lessons close together. You will not only learn faster because the dancing will be fresh in your mind, but you’ll also be able to spend more time learning new steps. If you’re not able to make it in more than once a week, no problem! Our system is designed to teach everyone as fast as they go, so you are guaranteed to make progress.

Why learn more than just One Dance?

Wherever you go out dancing they are going to play more than one type of dance. Salsa clubs, for example, will play everything from salsa to bachata, merengue and cha cha. All dances have the same concepts involved so there are great benefits to learning more than one dance at a time. Our Interrelated System makes this easy by teaching you how to use one step pattern in multiple dances.

What will I learn during the first few lessons?

Your Teacher will focus on what your immediate dance needs, whether it’s getting ready for a special occasion or learning a certain dance. Your Instructor will get you moving and give you personalised instruction on various aspects of dancing like patterns, timing, styling and lead or follow.

What if I need to cancel my lesson?

No problem! We have an 12 hour cancellation policy so that the teachers are able to give that valuable time to another student. Should you have to cancel you dance lesson with short notice we are flexible, allowing you to reschedule within the week at no charge. Just give us a call as soon as you know you need to reschedule your dance lesson & we’ll take care of the rest.
